BMV is a tremendous process change for nursing and support for the project has to be clearly communicated to the staff for the project to be successful. This is especially true during the training sessions and in the early stages of go-live. Non in-patient departments (day surgery, PACU, etc.) are important for BMV, but can present unique problems for BMV. A panel describes some of the challenges they faced in these areas and how those were resolved.

Brian Yeaman, M.D. discusses the importance of CPOE relative to patient safety and the financial implications of doing, and not doing, CPOE, in the time of "Meaningful Use." Dr.Yeaman is a practicing family medicine doctor and is the health systems CMIO.
