MEDITECH 6.0 Summit

EMR Adoption Summit

By now, everyone involved in healthcare is familiar with the “American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009” (ARRA), as well as most of the buzzwords generated from this program, namely, meaningful use. Interest and curiosity have escalated concerning the relationship between ARRA funding requirements and hospitals’ use of electronic health records (EHR) technology.

HIMSS Analytics began tracking hospitals Electronic Medical Records (EMR) progress and developed the EMR Adoption Model, which rates facilities in the journey to become completely paperless. The model utilizes 8 stages to represent the cumulative levels of EHR implementation.

Using this model as a guide can position hospitals effectively to benefit from the ARRA funding.
