Should I join MUSE? Should I participate? What is the value? Glad you asked! Here are some of the benefits of MUSE:

	Education, education, education! MUSE offers hundreds of educational opportunities with a variety of clinical, financial, administrative, and technical topics for both Magic and Client/Server environments.
	Networking with peers and vendors to solve problems. Build relationships with your peers to solve challenges together. Gain access to consultants who are experts in the MEDITECH IT arena.
	Training! MUSE offers a wide range of seminars for the novice and expert. MUSE has a wealth of experienced users who can provide instructions in areas such as NPR report writing, billing proration, customer-defined screens, rules, dictionaries, and much more!
	Access to the benefits and pitfalls of new software releases and exposure to niche products to solve real problems. Plus, "best practice" case studies on creative uses of software.
	Internationally recognized speakers.
	Strategic brainstorming on broad industry issues and special interest groups focusing on unique but important issues.

Membership Levels and Fees:

A 'bed' is defined as an acute care bed. Any other bed, such as rehab, extended care, long-term care, etc. can be counted at a 2 to 1 ratio - that is, these other beds are considered ½ of an acute care bed. This is for counting purposes only, not clinically speaking - we don't want to offend anyone!

So, for a hospital that has 100 acute care beds, 50 rehab beds, and 60 extended care beds, the number of 'total beds' is 100 + ½ (50) + ½ (60), or 155. This hospital would pay $750 US for their MUSE annual membership dues.
