Aurel Kleinerman, M.D., Ph.D., is the founder and CEO of Blue Iris. He is the inventor and architect of MITEM technology and holds several US patents. Dr. Kleinerman has worked in computers for more than 30 years, with particular emphasis on non-invasive integration of various disparate systems. He has developed software for a variety of advanced systems and developed the first micro system for control and data collection in a biochemistry laboratory. He received a Ph.D. in mathematics in 1977 from Cornell University, an M.D. in 1981 from Johns Hopkins University and completed his residency in medicine at Stanford University Medical Center

 

 

 

Nurses and other patient care providers process large amounts of information to provide quality care in today’s healthcare organizations. Historically, nursing staff have been burdened by the need to carry wireless telephones and multiple pagers to keep them aware of patient events and other communication needs. Huntington Hospital is currently piloting a new SmartPhone device available for the Apple iPhone that makes use of a single device for voice, text and alarm communications. The iPhone platform is very popular with staff and has accelerated acceptance of the device due to its intuitive design and simplicity.

 

Learn about the goals of the pilot as well as the technical setup and other specifications which have made the house-wide roll-out of the program inevitable. The discussion will include benefits to clinicians with direct comments from them as well as costs and challenges to the project.

Join us for a discussion about the Pocket PC functionality. It is designed to display relevant clinical data on a handheld device. The data is visit-specific and relevant only to inpatient visits. It mirrors the data which is available in PCM and displayed in Clinical Review (EPS). The original code was designed specifically for the IPhone or ITouch, but works with the Blackberry or HP.

This presentation will look at enabling technologies from Citrix and Microsoft that provide the Information Technology team with tools to support image deployment, application deployment and application virtualization.

 

The Citrix application virtualization technology will be discussed to demonstrate how it is used to deliver client applications in a protected, virtual environment while turning them into an on-demand service that is always available and up to date.

 

Microsoft’s App-v and System Center Configuration Manger (SCCM) will also be discussed. The presentation will show how Microsoft’s Application Virtualization (App-V) makes everything from deployment and upgrades to migrations and business continuity initiatives easier and faster with better agility by transforming applications into centrally managed services that are automatically delivered over the network to users, without installing applications on client systems. Finally, the capabilities of the System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) to comprehensively assess, deploy, and update servers, client computers, and devices – across physical, virtual, distributed, and mobile environments will be discussed.

 

Attendees will leave the presentation with a better understand of how these tools are currently used in a hospital environment.
