Types of Events

What is a MUSE Event?

A MUSE Event is a conference offering unique opportunities for networking, education, and training. Your peers will offer educational presentations on ‘hot topics’ and best practices. Share your challenges and solutions in peer group meetings.

There is no one size fits all MUSE event. An event could be staged at a hospital or at a hotel. It may be a day (or more) dedicated to a particular topic or module. Some events will offer multiple tracks of valuable education. Some offer comprehensive workshops. Some events will showcase exhibitors..

All of these formats have already been proven successful. These events are staged in various locations helping to reduce your travel costs, and the affordable registration rates ease the pressure on your education budget. Enjoy the educational benefits at every MUSE event!

Webcast

What is a Webcast?

A webcast is at time-efficient, economical venue to attend an exciting MUSE educational session. It’s a conference on the Internet. A webcast is an online meeting and teleconference where users can hear presenters (and ask questions) through the telephone and watch a power point presentation using the internet. This format allows for multiple participants at each site for an affordable registration fee.  Webcasts allow people to share information without actually having to travel, thereby saving time and money.

Once I have paid for my site, how many people can participate?
There is no limit. You can gather as many people as you wish – setup a big screen and speaker phone for all to enjoy! However, if you plan to use more than one computer or site, each site must be paid for and registered.
What is the website address and phone number for the webcast?
Once you have paid, the log-instructions will be on your emailed receipt.
Is there a limit to the number of sites that can participate?
Yes, so you will want to register early!

What is the International Education Exchange (IEE)?

The IEE is a contest staged at the International MUSE conference whereby up to six presentations are judged and the winner earns a trip to attend the MUSE EU user conference in the United Kingdom (typically held in September). The contest is an excellent method of fostering the international flavor of MUSE and it offers a unique opportunity to travel and interact with peers from around the world.

Any Facility member presenter can request that their presentation be considered for the IEE contest. A panel of judges narrows down all submitted presentations to a group of finalists. The judging panel typically consists of a MUSE Board member, international attendees, and other MUSE volunteers, often past IEE winners.

During the conference, the finalists present their sessions to an audience that includes the judging panel. Presentations are judged on:
  • Content and professionalism of the submitted abstract
  • Relevance of topic
  • Knowledge of topic
  • Contestants ability to articulate the value the presentation
  • Overall quality

The prize is awarded to the best presenter.

Regulations:
  • Only one presenter per presentation is awarded the prize.
  • The IEE prizes are not transferable.
  • Each prize must be used in the year that it was won or be forfeited.
  • There is no cash value.
  • The prize to the United Kingdom covers round trip airfare, four nights hotel, round trip airport transportation, conference registration, and a per diem meal allowance.
