Beyond Healthcare: Improving Health and Reducing Disparities

When:  Jul 19, 2022 from 02:00 PM to 03:00 PM (ET)
We all know that the U.S. spends more on healthcare than other high-income nations and yet have the lowest life expectancy, and the highest infant mortality rate- just two examples of metrics that demonstrate the need to move beyond traditional healthcare delivery models.

The underlying reason for this? A person’s zip code is a better predictor of their health than their genetic code. We need to address these social determinants of health to reduce community disparities.

In traditional healthcare, the focus is on treatment of disease, not prevention. Disease treatment can be reduced to billable events and often predictable trajectories. But given the pressures on individual providers today, it is not possible for them to address each individual patient’s social circumstances in a comprehensive way. Larger organizations. like hospitals, must take this on as a strategic initiative, as an integral part of serving their communities.

This webinar will cover the background and current landscape of health equity and how hospitals are responding to this critical need.
