Modernization of Information Practices in EHR Systems through Sex, Gender, and Sexual Orientation

This session provides a basic overview of sex, gender, and sexual orientation through the use of key concepts and definitions. In addition, the barriers and impacts of sexual gender minorities are examined as well as the importance of inclusive language. These issues are further understood through the use of research examples and findings provided by The University of Victoria’s Dr. Francis Lao. Lastly, a basic understanding of MEDITECH and their approach to gender is reviewed.
