This presentation seeks to introduce the Paediatric Early Warning Systems (PEWS) developed in MEDITECH using native build tools. PEWS is used to predict and alert clinicians of potentially deteriorating paediatric patients. Thus, allowing earlier intervention and promotion of better patient outcomes. The intention of this project is to build PEWS into MEDITECH, to embed PEWS as part of daily documentation, and to enable PEWS for future integration with vendors.

In this webinar, we will (1) review the validated PEWS tool and (2) how it was adopted into MEDITECH. (3) We will discuss the patient’s journey from emergency department to inpatient nursing and the physician workflow. (4) Lastly, we will also spend some time reviewing the MEDITECH build that enabled this workflow and any challenges along the way, as well as clinician feedback.
