703 - Scoping, Transformation, and Optimization of Expanse Ambulatory

Instructors: Al Monteiro and Wendy Frappier
Organization: Nordic Global

Is MEDITECH Expanse Ambulatory the best fit for your facility?
Have you already implemented MEDITECH Expanse Ambulatory, but would like to learn about advanced features and optimization?
Is your ambulatory facility losing out on potential revenue opportunities due to missing billing components in clinical documentation?

MEDITECH’s Ambulatory module functionality can meet the requirements of many clinics, but might not be the best solution in all cases. Scoping and an evaluation of each clinic workflow and data management for an organisation’s ambulatory services requires thorough consideration and planning. Not all outpatient services are alike – oncology, dialysis, and infusions for instance pose challenges that may not fit specific clinical needs.

Due to time constraints and limited resources, most organizations manage to implement only the bare basics of the Expanse Ambulatory module. Several key features of the MEDITECH Expanse Ambulatory module like Registries, Widgets, Immunization Management and Health Maintenance protocols are postponed to post-live optimization.

In this information-packed workshop, we will use our recent experiences from implementing and optimizing Expanse Ambulatory at various facilities across US and Canada.

You will learn:
  • A scoping approach to help you plan and evaluate if Expanse Ambulatory is the best fit for your facility (with recent examples).
  • Review of “charging from documentation” and advanced clinical documentation tips and techniques.
  • Harness the power of “Registries” to monitor and report on patient population health based on criteria like age, diagnosis, next immunization/mammography due dates, lab results, and query responses – learn to build a registry.
  • Showcase – Post LIVE optimization, transformation, and revenue augmentation at Lawrence General Hospital’s ambulatory facility.
  • MIPS Preparedness and EHR Excellence Toolkits (example of Depression and Suicide Prevention Toolkit implementation).
  • A collaborative approach to integrating external community health centres with in-patient facility.
Learning objectives:
  • Learn how Expanse Ambulatory can integrate with their inpatient and ED departments.
  • Optimization using Registries and Advanced Clinical Documentation techniques.
  • Attendees will learn the use of Registries with examples.
  • Learn all steps involved in building and maintaining a Registry.
  • Learn about Advanced Documentation techniques and "charge capture from documentation.”
  • Attendees will learn how to prepare for MIPS using Ambulatory Expanse.
