Hello MUSE Community!
Welcome to the February/March 2019 edition of MUSE Matters! This is where you can catch up on recent and upcoming MUSE news.

RECENT NEWS AND EVENTS
Community Peer Group (CPG) meetings

Kentucky Community Peer Group Meeting

Ephraim McDowell Regional Hospital served as host for the annual Kentucky Community Peer Group meeting, with Bridgehead Software sponsoring. The meeting was held December 5th, and included attendees from six sites, as well as two virtual-attendance sites. One of the first established CPGs, the Kentucky group attracts strong involvement from healthcare facilities throughout the state, as well as occasional guests from other states.

The program offered the chance to tour Ephraim McDowell's data center,  and featured presentations on topics such as MPM, Expanse lessons learned, API interfaces, and also included a review of new software from the Kentucky Health Information Exchange.

Special thanks to the sponsor, Bridgehead Software, Ephraim McDowell Regional Hospital, and to Martha Sullivan and Becky Blevins, the group leaders.

The Executive Institute

Hospital leaders and solution providers gathered for the 7th annual MUSE Executive Institute at the Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, California, January 13-15. The event opened with a relaxed, fun golf outing. Attendees played in foursomes on the beautiful Pelican Hill course, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. This proved to be an excellent ice-breaker that led to fruitful discussions and networking.

The program was centered around the event theme, 'Achieving Value Transformation', and presentations included topics such as organizational transformation during an Expanse implementation, how a fully optimized hospital EHR can transform care, and an update from the first MEDITECH hospital to conduct server patching without bringing Expanse down (also on the way to becoming MEDITECH's first Five Nines hospital).

Perhaps the highlight of the event was the inaugural meeting of
the MEDITECH/MUSE CIO Advisory Committee Council. Hospital CIOs joined Helen Waters, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing, and Hoda Sayed-Friel, Executive Vice President, for a frank and open dialogue about MEDITECH and its initiatives. Event evaluations reveal group consensus praising the value of interaction within this group of leaders.

The event also featured its unique "reverse tradeshow" component, that facilitated the meetings between solution providers and executives. These timed discussions were important for both parties, because they expedited the selection process and improved relationships for striking deals.
