MUSE Welcomes New Education Committee Members

The Education Committee recommends educational strategy, including delivery methods and content for MUSE events, webinars, and JAM sessions. It monitors topics of importance and interest from multiple sources and recommends them for inclusion in MUSE education programs. To continue to support these important objectives, we have added five talented volunteers to the committee.

Please join the MUSE Board of Directors in welcoming

these new Education Committee members!

Edmond Chiu is a Clinical Informatics Specialist at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, Ontario. His pharmacy background enables a unique lens into the world of community pharmacy and how that may interact with hospital EMR systems. He brings expertise in WebAcute/WebED and physician documentation, as well as order set development processes. Edmond is passionate about coordinating groups of interest and facilitation of discussion, and he often encourage his colleagues to turn to MUSE if they need another perspective.

Sandy DePlonty, MBA MPA is the CIO/Senior Director of Ancillary Services at War Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan. She values the information she gains as a MEDITECH user from the MUSE organization. During her 35-year career at the hospital (from Magic to Expanse!), she has become a jack-of-all trades with great expertise in the clinical modules, but also acts as the ‘go to’ person for reports and the financial modules. Sandy enjoys sharing her experiences and interacting with others to come up with innovative solutions.

Dorrie Fasick, RN - Nursing Informatics works for the Interior Health Authority in Kelowna, British Columbia. She brings 19 years of experience as an Emergency Room Nurse, and is eager to share lessons learned and best practices from her 30-site organization. Dorrie currently specializes in ED electronic triage education and implementation with support to new design ideas for Access & Flow into the ED. She is always willing to learn and work with folks from different backgrounds as she believes collaboration, two-way learning, and finding better solutions together are keys to successful education.

Adriana Guzman is the Director, Information Systems at Norwegian American Hospital, Chicago, Illinois. She enjoys taking an active role providing educational content to individuals to help them be successful with their goals. With over 20 years of healthcare I.T. experience, Adriana has implemented all of the MEDITECH platforms and has worked extensively in Magic, 5.x, 6.x, and Expanse. She is a strong believer in education working to help others obtain valuable information to make informed decisions.

Jason MacLaughlin is the Manager Clinical Applications at Berkshire Health Systems in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. He thinks MUSE is a terrific organization for any MEDITECH hospital to be part of, and he is encouraging his staff and co-workers to take advantage of all of the resources available. Jason brings broad experience as a former MEDITECH employee and as a MEDITECH consultant for various organizations for over 20 years, working with dozens of MEDITECH hospitals. He believes education is a key part of the process, and something he has been passionate about during his entire career.
