MEDITECH customers are now live with the latest workflow advancements to Traverse Exchange, including a consolidated patient summary that streamlines patient data from multiple sources. By filtering out redundancy and organizing information into an accessible, searchable format, the summary helps clinicians work more efficiently, reduce cognitive load, and make faster, better-informed decisions — all within their native EHR workflows.
Since its initial launch one year ago, Traverse Exchange has expanded rapidly and is now live in 112 health systems, representing more than 500 facilities across 39 U.S. states and territories. MEDITECH is actively collaborating with customers to roll out the new enhancements across its network.
“For interoperability to gain widespread appeal and adoption, it needs to go beyond simply exchanging data — there needs to be utility around that data so it can be meaningfully applied to patient care,” said Mike Cordeiro, Senior Director of Interoperability Market and Product Strategy at MEDITECH. “That’s why we are so excited about our latest advancements… bringing discrete and meaningful data to clinicians, within their native workflows, where it can be instantly sorted, filtered, and applied to their decision-making, improving their satisfaction.”
Customers like Emanate Health in Southern California, which joined Traverse Exchange in October 2024, are already seeing the benefits. Serving over one million lives in the San Gabriel Valley, Emanate noted immediate impact without the need for additional staff.
“With Traverse Exchange, we now have access to discrete, high-quality data embedded directly in our workflows — enhancing care delivery, reducing duplication, and contributing to our overall strategy of growing our services,” said Tito Perez, Corporate Director of Enterprise Applications. “The network is even helping us reduce costs, increase revenue, and build patient trust.”
Since go-live, Emanate has retrieved more than three million documents, with over 70% originating from Epic-based health systems. Clinicians at Emanate emphasize how the consolidated patient summary is improving day-to-day care delivery.
“As a family medicine clinician, it’s important for me to know where else my patients have been,” said Andrea Douglas, PA-C. “Being able to view past hospitalizations, ED visits, medications, allergies, lab results, imaging, and immunizations through Traverse Exchange is extremely valuable. As more organizations begin to universally share data, this tool will only become more powerful.”
Looking ahead, MEDITECH plans to extend these workflow enhancements to the Traverse Exchange Canada network, while supporting U.S. organizations in meeting the evolving CMS Interoperability Framework.
